 Pleurotus Ostreatus "Black Pearl." Hybrid of the King Trumpet and Pearl Oyster mushrooms. The Black Pearl is one of our heartier varieties, with a large cap and a slightly chewy, meaty stem. Soft enough to enjoy in a simple sautee, but substantial enough to be used as a meat substitute, the Black Pearl is one of the most versatile mushrooms we offer. It has a strong umami flavor and an aftertaste reminiscent of pepper or anise, making it an excellent candidate for those recipes in which you still desire a distinct mushroom flavor amongst other flavorful ingredients. This mushroom will shine in stir-fries, roasts, and soups.
